Subscriptions are month-to-month or annual, billed in INR through Razorpay. Cancel auto-renewal anytime from Settings. The first 7 days are fully refundable; after that, see the rules below.

1. Scope

This policy governs refunds and cancellations for paid subscriptions to the Kautilya platform billed via Razorpay in Indian Rupees. By subscribing, you accept this policy along with the Terms of Service.

2. 7-day money-back on first paid month

We offer a no-questions-asked refund within 7 calendar days of your first paid subscription, on the following conditions:

  • The refund request must reach billing@kautilya.xyz from the registered email within 7 days of the first successful charge.
  • The refund is processed back to the original payment instrument via Razorpay. Bank credit typically takes 5–10 working days.
  • One refund per user per lifetime. The 7-day window does not reset for plan upgrades, downgrades, renewals, or re-subscription after cancellation.
  • The account is closed at the time of refund; access ends immediately.

3. Annual plans

Annual plans are eligible for the same 7-day money-back window described above. After day 7, annual subscriptions are non-refundable for the remainder of the term. You may cancel auto-renewal at any time from Settings; access continues until the end of the paid term.

4. Monthly renewals

Monthly subscription renewals are non-refundable once charged. Cancel auto-renewal before the next billing date to avoid the next month's charge. The current billing cycle continues until its end date.

5. Exceptions and goodwill refunds

Outside the 7-day window, we may issue a partial or full refund at our discretion in the following cases:

  • A documented platform outage exceeding 24 continuous hours during a paid month, where the outage materially prevented core use.
  • Duplicate charge for the same billing period caused by a payment gateway error.
  • A charge made to a card or UPI handle reported by the account holder as fraudulent and supported by a bank dispute reference.
  • Bereavement or serious medical incapacity, with reasonable proof.

Goodwill refunds, where granted, are typically pro-rated for the unused portion of the current billing period.

6. Non-refundable items

  • Subscription periods already consumed.
  • Add-ons or AI credit packs that have been partially or fully used.
  • Subscriptions terminated by us for breach of the Terms of Service.
  • Losses, missed opportunities, or trading P&L impact arising from use of the Service. Kautilya is an analytics tool; trading outcomes are your responsibility.
  • Charges older than 6 months from the date of the refund request.

7. How to request a refund

  1. Email billing@kautilya.xyz from your registered email address.
  2. Include the Razorpay payment ID or order ID from the receipt email, and a short reason. (No essay required.)
  3. We acknowledge within 1 business day and either confirm the refund or ask one clarifying question.
  4. Approved refunds are initiated within 3 business days of approval. Bank credit follows Razorpay's standard timeline (5–10 working days; sometimes faster for UPI).

8. Cancellation (without refund)

You can cancel auto-renewal at any time from Settings → Billing inside the app. Cancellation stops the next charge; you retain access until the end of the current paid period. There is no penalty or fee for cancellation.

9. Chargebacks

If you dispute a charge with your bank or card network without first contacting billing@kautilya.xyz, we reserve the right to suspend the account pending the outcome of the dispute and to recover the chargeback fee imposed by Razorpay. Please email us first — most issues are resolved within a day.

10. Grievance escalation

If a refund decision is unsatisfactory, escalate to grievance@kautilya.xyz. Under the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020, we acknowledge within 48 hours and aim to resolve within 30 days.

11. Changes

We may update this policy. The version applicable to your refund request is the one in force on the date of the original charge. Material changes are emailed to registered users at least 7 days in advance.
